The Blue River is a tailwater that flows out of Dillon
Reservoir in the town of Dillon. It is known for its huge rainbows
between 5 and 10 pounds. With some work, the fish can be easily
spotted in the winter and early spring when they come downstream
to spawn,
but
aren't
so easily
caught. They are some of the prettiest fish you will ever see,
with golden bodies and bright red streaks on their sides. The river
also has
a good
population of brown trout, with some larger ones caught in the
fall. Fishing on the river can be very technical and drag free
drifts are required to hook into one of these pigs. Most people
either love the river or they
hate it due to its technical nature.
Some days you can catch fish after fish and other days you are
lucky to catch one or two. The river offers a challenge
for all anglers, but it can pay off with a huge fish when you
least expect it. |
