The Blue has become a very frustrating river for me. I use to love this river for its technicality and difficulty, but things have changed since the restoration project. I don't know what it is, but the river has more people fishing it, there are less fish, and the good holes are all gone. I couldn't believe how few fish were above the I-70 bridge. The good news was the river was recently stocked below the bridge with fish in the 18-20 range. Hopefully if these fish survive the pounding they take, the river will improve over the next couple of years. They make for easy targets, as their stub hatchery noses stuck out and they definitely weren't picky. We each landed a couple of fish behind the 7-Eleven and right under the hwy bridge before heading back to Denver. The fish took the usuals, black beauties and miracle nymphs. We fished the lower blue above Green Mountain and also found suprising few fish. The browns we did find were in the 8-10 inch range and took pheasant tails and red midges.
