The White River is becoming well known for consistently producing monster brown trout. Trout in many sections of this river average 16-18 inches, with many fish in the 20-22 inch range. Trout up to 20 pounds are often hooked, but rarely caught. This river may produce the next world record as fish close to forty pounds have been spotted in recent years. The river also had a good population of rainbow trout, cutthroats, and even brook trout. Many of the rainbows can reach 6-8 pounds, with an occasional 10+ pound fish. Winter and Spring tend to be the best times to target the monster fish, as they become more active and less leary during the spawning season.
