The Sucker River, north of Duluth is known as being one of the best Steelhead and Looper rivers on the North Shore. In the spring the river holds fish from the mouth all the way up to Hwy. 61. The fish are usually targeted in April, but some larger runs do occur in late March. In recent years the number of steelhead returning has been increasing, with some fish over 10 pounds.
