The Baptism is a small river located about an hour north of Duluth. It receives nice runs of chinook and pink salmon in the fall and steelhead in the spring. The fish can be found anywhere in the river all the way up to the barrier falls, which is around 3 miles up from Lake Superior. The pinks tend to run thick every other year and if the north shore gets a lot of fall rain you can expect some big kings. The steelhead population is just starting to make a comeback on the north shore, with some very nice fish making their way up the river in the spring.
