We parked in the lot off of County Rd. U and took a look over the bridge at the river. It looked like it was running a little low, but downriver looking promising. The lot was empty, so we didn't know what kind of fishing to expect. We took a short hike through the woods until we finally found a stretch downriver that looked promising. There were a couple of boulders at the head of the pool with a faster tailend. I began working the top of the pool and continued to make my way downriver. I got about half way down when my indicator disappeared. I jerked expecting to be snagged up on the bottom, but to my surprise my line took off downriver. After a short fight and a couple of leaps, I landed the fish. It turned out to be a bright red rainbow close to 13 inches. I let the fish go, wondering if it was a fluke, but was quickly proven wrong as we continued catching fish. We ended up pulling 7-8 fish out of the pool, all rainbows except for one ten inch brown. We continued working downriver but didn't manage any other fish. We tried another section of river, but only managed to catch creek chubs. We caught most of the fish on red San Juan worms, but also caught fish on pheasant tails and lightning bugs.
