The Williams Fork tailwater is small compared to the other tailwaters in Colorado, but it can hold some big fish. In the spring large rainbows run up out of the Colorado River to spawn. Some up these fish can run in the 5 to 7 pound range and will put up a good fight. The river is made up of predominately brown trout with an occasional rainbow. The river holds a lot of fish, but low water conditions are starting to hurt the populations. The water is clear and you can see the fish in the deeper holes. Most fish are in the 16-18 inch range and you can expect to hook at least one good fish over 20 inches about every time out.
