We arrived at the first
good hole after a long hike through the woods. The water was
low, but looked promising. I set up my buddies at the top of
the hole, which usually produced the most fish, while I took
the tailend of the pool. We worked the pool for a good 20 minutes
with only one short hookup. They decided to head downriver to
try the next hole while I stayed and to give the section of river
they had justed fish another try. It wasn't long before a brown
came out from under the bank and took my bugger. After a short
fight I managed to land the fish, a fat 16 inch brown. We continued
to make out way downriver and only managed a couple of creek
chubs. We got down to the last good hole and I finally hooked
up again. The fish had come out of some logs and exploded on
my wooly bugger after the first couple of strips. I took the
fish downriver to the bottom of the pool where we were able to
get it in the net. It was a long male brown close to 21 inches.
We let him go and then worked our way back up river without another
strike. |
