The Stewart was flowing high, but was still fishable when we arrived. There were a surprisingly large amount of anglers on the river, with all of the popular holes holding 3-4 people. The poor fishing on the lower shore was pushing anglers further north in search of the steelhead. We fished a couple of favorite holes before Jake finally tied into a nice female close to 26 inches. It was the only fished we hooked into all day. We had trouble getting our flies down in some spots, as the river was roaring. Crossing the river even in shallow areas was difficult.

We returned again the next morning and fished the same areas. Again the fishing pressure was high, with many anglers out on the river early Sunday morning. We managed to hook into two more fish, but both came off after heading downriver into the current. The fish were all hooked on bright egg/yarn flies.
