The Fork is starting to become one of our favorite rivers in the Aspen area. Everytime out we try a new stretch of river and every time out the river produces nice fish. We fished a nice section on the upper Fork near Aspen. We found a long narrow pool and it was one the first cast that I hooked a nice 16 inch rainbow. On his second cast Jerry hooked a monster rainbow. He didn't know how big it was for a while until it finally jumped. It was definitely a 20 plus inch fish. He battled it for a while as it took him down river in the current and we almost had it in the net when the hook popped out. He sat on the river's edge in disbelief asking, "How big was it?" "Just a little guy," I replied. It definitely would have been the big fish of the trip. We proceeded to land another 4-5 fish out of the same pool and they all put up a good fight. The best flies were red midges, pheasant tails, and a chartruese copper john that Rob has gotten us all hooked on. It produces fish... We definitely will continue to search new holes on this river on future trips out, and maybe time Jerry can hook into his big bow again.
