We drove down the long hill below Pactola Reservoir and pulled into the parking lot. We walked along the stream and up to the large pool below the dam. The pool was full of huge trout, with many fish over 20 inches. I decided to head up to fish the faster water coming out of the dam. I wasn't expecting it, but I hooked into a large fish in the faster water. It put up a good fight, but I managed to land the fish. It was a fat 18 inch rainbow and was the first trout I had ever caught. The next day after receiving a tip from a local flyfisherman, we headed to a spot right in town. Everyone was catching lots of small browns when I hooked into a monster. The fish would not come in. All I could see during the fight was a bobber that was connected to it, as it had completely broken off someone elses line. After a long battle I pulled in a 24 inch rainbow and started my new addiction to trout fishing.
