Oak Creek wasn’t quite what we were expecting when we arrived at the river. This small stream winds its way through a city park and was loaded with kids all hoping to tie into one of the big fish. We made our way downstream and came across some crusty kings, before I spotted a nice Coho down behind the kings. I hooked it on the third cast and after a quick fight I had caught my first lake-run salmon. It was a nice fish, close to 4 pounds, with a little pink on its sides. We spotted a couple of other small Coho upstream, but couldn’t entice them to take anything. We were frustrated to hear that a 15 pound Steelhead was caught near where we were fishing the following day. It was a nice little creek with some surprisingly big fish.
