The Fryingpan was again amazing, with us catching close to 50 rainbows over 20 inches in the four days we fished the river. A lot of these fish were in the 4-6 pound range with a couple of bruisers topping out near 7-8 pounds. These fish were stacked up in the upper mile of the river and site fishing was the way to go. A lot of the fish were in the shallow flats above the bend pool in the mornings and evenings, but most fish were caught in the bend pool and below. The monster rainbows chose not to show themselves, but many of the males still remained active after the spawn. The big fish were being caught all up and down the river.

The flows at toilet bowl were down, making fishing tough but we did catch a couple of nice 20-inch rainbows and browns. The flows were at 112 cfs, but a lot of the water was flowing from the back spillway. We tried throwing wooly buggers on the upper Pan above Ruedi and were pleasantly surprised. We caught rainbows almost every cast, all between 8-14 inches. I did land one hawg close to 21 inches that looked like a brightly colored steelie and a 14-inch brown. We caught around 40 fish each time up and it was a nice break from the lower river. The best flies were black beauties and black biot emergers, we were also introduced to a fly called the Yong Special, which was also very productive.
