The South Fork of the Snake River, near Idaho Falls, is an outstanding tailwater fishery with lots of large cutthroats, rainbows, and brown trout. Trout over 20 inches are fairly common, with some browns exceeding 25 inches. The river is generally best fished from a drift boat, as it runs through numerous canyons and access is tough to find. The river does have numerous side channels, which offers some wading access. The scenery is unbelievable, as is the fishing at times.
