The fish were stacked up below the dam in Chatfield, with many large browns visible. It appeared that they were in their spawning run and most weren’t interested in taking a fly. I did land one small brown above the dam on a deerfield special. Fishing the deerfield as a wet fly I also landed another small brown right at the dam in the current. I noticed a lot of fish rising down below the bridge, picking midges off the surface. I managed to hook another one of these fish, also with the deerfield. The larger fish tend to be nearer the dam with a lot of smaller fish down below the bridge.
