The North Platte is a system of dams and tailwaters, all with their unique characteristics. The two most popular places for flyfishermen are Grey's Reef and the Miracle Mile. Grey's Reef holds lots of huge cuttbows and rainbows. It's not uncommon to look down at your feet and see 5-10 20+ inch fish. These fish feed aggressively and large tippets are needed to haul in these hawgs. The "Mile" is known for its huge browns, with fish over 10 pounds not uncommon, especially during the fall runs. This section of river also holds a healthy population of rainbows that are eager to take almost any fly.
