The Green River is a large tailwater located in Flaming
Gorge, Utah. It at one point held over 22,000 trout per square
mile, but has now settled down to around 7,000-8,000 trout per
mile. It is home to large rainbows and cutthroat, as well as some
monster
browns.
The top A section is home to the majority of the river's trout
and the most popular section for flyfishermen. It offers almost
every techinical fishing situation imaginable, but the majority
of anglers enjoy fishing dry flies, especially terestrials.
This section is also home to the famous Circada hatch. Fishing
can get crazy when these big bugs are on the water, with many big
fish coming up top to take the large flies. The B section is
less fished and holds less fish, but the trout that are there can
get big. This section is home to some of the biggest browns on
the river and is worth checking out when the upper section gets
busy. |
