The Cascade River, located an hour north of Two Harbors, can be a good steelhead and looper stream in the spring, but is probably better known for its salmon run in the fall. Large king salmon and pink salmon begin entering the river in September and continuing running through the beginning of November. The river is often loaded with pink salmon and is a popular tourist place in the fall. The king salmon tend to congregate in the top pool, but can be spotted throughout the lower river.
