The Sheboygan River, south of Green Bay, is known for producing one of the best chinook runs in all of the WI tributaries. They first start in September and the river continues getting fresh runs all the way into December. The steelhead will follow the salmon into the river with the peak usually in October. October also brings some huge lake-run browns in from the lake, with fish over 10 pounds not uncommon. Many fish are caught in the 10-15 pound range each fall. Spring is the best time to target the steelhead as they stream into the river in large numbers to spawn. These fish average 6-10 pounds, with some larger fish caught each year.
